GetClac builds free, fast, no-signup online calculators for people who do their own taxes: freelancers, independent contractors, consultants, gig workers, and small business owners. Our calculators answer the questions people actually ask at the kitchen table, usually a few weeks before a filing or payment deadline.
Why we built this
Most tax calculators online are lead-generation funnels. They ask for your name, email, and phone number before showing you a number, then try to sell you a filing product. Some send you to an accountant rather than answering anything.
We took a different approach. Our calculators are genuinely free and genuinely instant. There is no account to create, no email to hand over, no upsell at the end, and no "consult a professional" pop-up blocking the answer. The numbers are computed on your own device by JavaScript, which also means your financial inputs never leave your computer.
What makes our approach different
- No accounts, ever
- There is no sign-up, no login, and no user database. Nothing to track, nothing to leak.
- No tracking of your figures
- What you type into a calculator is processed locally in your browser. It is never transmitted to us. See our Privacy Policy.
- Official tax figures, cited
- Every number in our calculators is traceable to an official source, such as the IRS annual inflation adjustments, the relevant year's Form 1040-ES instructions, and Social Security Administration COLA fact sheets. We show our work on the page rather than asking you to trust us.
- Fast on any device
- Every calculator is a single lightweight page with no frameworks, no libraries, and no external dependencies. It loads fast on a phone with a poor connection and works offline once loaded.
- Free, with advertising instead of paywalls
- Our calculators stay free for everyone. The site is supported by advertising, which is clearly labeled. Advertisers have no access to your calculator inputs and do not influence our editorial or calculation content.
Our approach to accuracy
Tax calculators carry real responsibility. A wrong number can lead to underpayment, a penalty, or an incorrect quarterly amount. We take this seriously:
- We use the official figures published by the IRS and the SSA for the relevant tax year, not estimates or remembered numbers from prior years.
- We state clearly which parts of a tax calculation a simplified calculator cannot fully capture, such as the Qualified Business Income deduction, itemized deductions, credits, and multi-state allocation.
- We label results as estimates and point users to a qualified professional for final, individualized advice.
Editorial independence
Advertising revenue pays for this site, but it buys no influence. Advertisers are not shown our calculator results, are not told what a user's figures are, and cannot require changes to any content. If a sponsor ever conflicted with the accuracy of a calculator, accuracy would win.
